Ram is responsible for developing C-HIT’s product portfolio and driving innovation across the organization. He brings over 30 years of IT experience, with more than a decade in healthcare IT interoperability, identity and access management, healthcare program integrity, and value-based care. Ram strives to develop simple solutions that deliver the greatest value to customers.
Ram has managed enterprise-wide IT initiatives across the entire business continuum, spanning federal and commercial sectors within the U.S. and international markets. Prior to C-HIT, he served as the chief technology officer for Optum International, a division of UnitedHealth Group. In that role, Ram oversaw health IT work encompassing population health management, wellness offerings, referral management services, health information exchange, as well as security and privacy governance. He also led Optum’s initiatives at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), including systems related to Healthcare.gov, such as Marketplace, Claims and Eligibility analytics, as well as Enterprise Identity and Access Management.
Ram earned his Bachelor of Engineering degree in computer science from Bharathidasan University in Chennai, India.
On the personal front, Ram spends his time indulging in athletic activities, including running, swimming, and figure skating. He is fascinated by the 13.5 billion-year old Universe and follows every associated astronomical event–from the birth of stars to the capture of the “halo” around the Black Hole in the center of Galaxy M87. Recently, he started learning the Mridangam, a percussion instrument in Indian classical music.
